Try Dive
If you haven't tried Scuba diving before then we'd recommend a Try Dive session so that you can see whether Scuba Diving is the right sport for you before you commit yourself to a full programme of training.
What is a Try Dive?
A Try Dive session involves poolside tuition on diving techniques and equipment, followed by a real scuba dive in shallow water in the swimming pool with an instructor.
Who can attend a Try Dive?
Anybody aged 11 years and over who completes a Medical Self-Declaration. Parental consent is required for those who are under 18 years of age.
Scuba Diving is a sport that requires general physical fitness and good health. Anyone with a medical history of diabetes, blackouts, perforated eardrums, high blood pressure or heart disease, any lung or respiratory disorder, or dependence on drugs, may not be able to dive safely and so must seek specialist advice before contemplating taking up this sport including a Try Dive.
How much does it cost?
We wish to encourage new members to our Branch, and therefore all equipment, air, and pool entry fees are covered by the £15.00 charged for the Course, which is usually booked by arrangement. If you subsequently decide to join our Branch, then this fee will be deducted from your first year’s membership subscription.
How do I book a Try Dive?
Telephone or email our Receptions Officer. Details can be found on our "Contact Us" page.
What do I need to bring?
You need to bring:
- A swimming costume and towel
- A T-Shirt to make wearing the equipment a bit more comfortable
- Any mask, fins and snorkel that you already own and are comfortable with
- An open mind!
